Paintings

Gohar’s combination of colours and textures bely her background as a textile designer. Like textiles, her paintings are tactile and demonstrate considered carefully considered composition and colour combinations. Entirely self-taught, Gohar is first and foremost a colourist.

Her paintings hold their roots in the contrasting influences of urban landscapes and the UK’s coastal landscapes. Her artistic influences are found in the paintings of Tapiés and Basquiat, and the work of the St Ives school – Patrick Heron, William Scott, Roger Hilton, Paul Klee and Henri Matisse, amongst others.

Gohar’s work can be seen at a number of galleries including the Greenstage Gallery in Worcester, the London Contemporary Art Gallery in Highgate, the Coastal Gallery in Lymington, Hampshire, or in London, by private appointment. If you would like to know more or express interest in a particular piece, please contact the relevant gallery or get in touch with Gohar directly at gohargoddard@gmail.com for more information.
